What a gem this lady is!! Long-time Camden resident, 95-year old Anna Meryl Zook was the lighter of the torch for the celebration. She is the belle of the town and the life of the party...with more vim and vigor and zip that you can imagine. I saw her on Sunday morning and she remembered everything about me I had told her!
175 black and gold balloons were released above the library and the Camden Community Center. Some attending had not been back to this town for years. It was so neat to watch everyone talk and share and enjoy the day.
Here is my cousin, Ron, with his fire hose cart which will soon adorn one corner of his yard. He is a volunteer fireman here in Camden and takes his job very seriously. The night before the Celebration began he was out on two calls...from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am and then from 4:30 am to 5:30 am. Sure did make for a short night!! The communities in the area help one another out teaming together their equipment and resources.
The fire departments put on quite a display for the community to see. There was a ladder truck, tanker, rescue truck and firetrucks..all ready to roll in a moment's notice.
