And outside view of the Corn Palace. All of the pictures are made with different colors of corn grown right here in Mitchell, SD. The new years' theme goes up at the late July or August...after the corn is harvested. The corn is actually sawn in half and nailed to the walls. Over a ton of nails are used each year.
Look how cool this is....Hard to believe it is just corn making these pictures. Corn is to the Cow Palace as flowers are to the Rose Parade floats!
Here is a close-up of a cowboy boot showing the different colors of corn. The pictures are drawn on black tar paper and it is like a giant paint by number as each section is marked with the color.
