The smoke from the fire up horse creek outside of Daniel, Wy blocks the sun and casts an eerie shadow.
On a trip back from Idaho Falls, over two and a half hours away from the fire...a huge thunderhead can be seen as well as a trail of smoke. The heat from the fire was actually making the thunderhead...thus creating its own weather...pretty strange.
In Jackson, WY at the park in town square each corner is adorned with an arch of elk antlers! This was had just been erected and hadn't faded at all with age. It was pretty impressive as you can see. Near Jackson is an elk refuge where the elk winter over and these are collected from that place with special federal permission.
And moose antlers make for a great sign for the city name on the arch.
